Guys, if you’re having trouble meeting girls, let me give you once piece of advice that will have you set for life: join a band.
I don’t know what it is, but musicians have always had a certain sex appeal that just can’t be recreated in any other profession. From Elvis’ gyrating to Mick Jagger’s bizarre dance moves, women love a guy on a stage. Think about it--if Jim Morrison wore those leather pants while he was doing your taxes, it just wouldn’t be the same, would it?
And just like the rest of us, celebrities love their rock stars. That’s why so many of them have gone from fan to groupie. Sometimes it’s just a casual tryst, and sometimes it results in a rock star family. Here are our favorite celebrity Rock N’ Roll groupies.
Carmen Electra: Considering she looks like she should be on the cover of a cheesy 70s hair band album, it’s no surprise that Carmen Electra loves rock stars. She’s dated Prince, B-Real of Cypress Hill and Tommy Lee of Motley Crue. But it doesn’t end there. She was also married to Dave Navarro of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and is currently dating Rob Patterson of Korn. Carmen is a serial rock star dater.
Gwyneth Paltrow: Gwyenth was such a huge Coldplay fan, she met Chris Martin backstage and the two hit it off so well, they decided to get married and pop out some kids. Don’t get any ideas, regular groupies—this isn’t normal backstage behavior.
Pamela Anderson: I mean, Pamela Anderson just looks like she should be dating rock stars. I don’t really know why. I think the answer lies somewhere between the ridiculous boobs and the fading barbwire tattoo. Anderson has been married to Tommy Lee and Kid Rock. In 1998, she was featured in a sex tape with Bret Michaels of Poison. She’s had more rock stars in her than The Troubadour.
Kate Hudson: Kate Hudson married human beard/rock star Chris Robinson of the The Black Crowes back in 2000. They lasted a whopping six years, which is basically a golden anniversary in Hollywood. Now, Hudson is engaged to Muse front man Matthew Bellamy. She’s got two rock offspring—one from each star.
Tony Romo: Okay, so Jessica Simpson is about as far from a rock star as Nas is from a pop princess. But I had to throw a dude in the mix so it doesn’t seem like it’s just girls who are groupies. In addition to Jessica, Romo has been linked to Carrie Underwood.
Winona Ryder: There’s nothing I can say about Winona’s groupie status that compares to the list of rock stars she’s bagged. So I’ll just name them now: Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum, Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, Blake Sennett of Rilo Kiley, Beck, Ryan Adams and Tre Cool of Green Day. Basically, to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you have to have banged Winona Ryder.
Heather Locklear: Yet another notch on Tommy Lee’s bedpost. Ladies, come on! I know he has quite the reputation from the waist down, but is it really worth getting a call from the guy three months later saying, “hey, uh, you might want to get checked?” I don’t think so!
Drew Barrymore: Drew was once engaged to musician Jamie Walters and has also dated Strokes’ drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Now, she seems to have settled down with non-musician Will Kopelman.
