Stefani Cleans Up for Muslims

Gwen Stefani

After what seemed like a mini battle with Malaysia and Muslim critics, singer Gwen Stefani finally took the stage yesterday in front of 7,000 fans in Kuala Lumpur.

Stefani first got some heat from conservative students that were against the concert because of the singer’s costumes and behavior on stage claiming "Her video clips promoting the event are too obscene."

Stefani managed to please concert goers when she chose to don a series of different flesh-covering outfits. She took the stage in a short-sleeved shirt and black-and-white striped hot-pants over a black leotard, with black gloves right up to the elbows. She changed into equally modest/covered up outfits for each song as she ran performed some of her hits.

Government rules also forbid female performers from jumping, shouting, or throwing objects out into the audience, which Stefani admitted turned into "a major sacrifice".

She said: "I've been in the music industry for 20 years and this is the first time that I'm facing opposition from people who have misunderstood me. I'm not a bad girl."

I bet that's the last time Malaysia will ever see the likes of Stefani, I give it to her for really abiding by their rules though.
