Wednesday was the first official day of Fashion Week and pop star turned designer Gwen Stefani wooed critics with her 2008 Spring L.A.M.B. collection.
Stefani and her stylist Andrea Lieberman won over the critics with a mix of retro and modern designs. Stefani was inspired by a combination of Jamaican rastafarians, English school girls and Orange County, California, teens.
As for the upcoming spring looks, Stefani says she was also influenced by the whirlwind life she has led over the past year as a new mother traveling the globe. "Fashion is art, it's always affected by circumstance. . . . The last collection when I was pregnant, I was totally affected by my weird body."
The collection, which was showcased at the Bryant Park tents got Stefani a standing ovation from rapper Eve, P.Diddy, Carrie Underwood, Shirley Manson, MAC Cosmetics President John Demsey and actress Sophia Bush. Also in the audience was Stefani’s hubby Gavin Rosedale with their son Kingston.
Prior to the show Eve and John Demsey went backstage to wish Gwen the best of luck for her debut.
