Gwen Stefani vs. Muslims

Gwen Stefani could be forced to cancel her upcoming Malaysian show after a Muslim group branded her "indecent" and "obscene".

Stefani, who is currently on the road with her 'Sweet Escape' tour, is due to perform in Kuala Lumpur on August 21 at the city's Putra Stadium, but the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students want the concert canceled because Gwen's image offends Islamic beliefs.

"We want the organisers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene," the group's president, Mohamad Hilmi Ramli, told Reuters.

Ramli continued: "Her video clips promoting the event are too obscene. We want the organisers to cancel the concert, failing which we will ask the authorities to intervene."

If she was too 'indecent and obscene' why did they allow the stadium to be booked by Stefani?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of groups in the US that love to shut down or ban things they disagree with such as smoking, talking on cell phones while driving etc. If you don't like talk radio, turn it off and don't listen. If you don't like Marilyn Manson, don't let your kids go to his concerts. People freak about targeting a group of people for inspections at airports due to "insensitivity" or "racism" when the trends show it isn't White Englishmen who are plotting to blow up LAX so they want to shut down all inspections and open borders. America was founded on free speech and the right to defend ourselves from enemies whomever they may be. Once you start taking those rights away due to "sensitivity" your digging your own grave.

If they dont like Gwen Stefani, they are free just not to go to the concert. Imagine if an other group – Gwen fans – force everyone by law to go to the concert.. its basically the same.

Jenny, I wasn't referring to the violence or death threats against the organizers, which never came up so I'm not sure where you're pulling that from. What I'm referring to are all the pressure groups like PETA (see the Vick trial), CARE, Jesse's Rainbow Coalition etc. that put pressure on anything THEY find offensive to be shut down, fired, and/or censored. That DOES happen a lot in this country repetitively.
