T.R. Knight Officially Leaving Grey's Anatomy

It’s official. We’re sorry to announce that T.R. Knight will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy next season. He flat lined on the season finale, so it was expected that he wouldn’t return. But nothing had been made official until today.

EW reports that T.R. specifically asked to be relieved of his contract. The official decision was made within the past few days. Rumor has it T.R. was dissatisfied with his character George’s “light” storyline this past year. But show creator Shonda Rhimes explained that it was a result of the normal ebb and flow of ensemble casts.

As for what’s up next for T.R., he’s reportedly in talks to start headlining the Broadway revival of Lend Me a Tenor in 2010.

Reps for both Knight and ABC declined to comment. Now the big question remains—will Katherine Heigl return or not??
