If the Daytime Emmys weren’t already seen as a joke (since they moved it from a telecast to an online stream and many of the show’s award winners don't bother to show up), the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences decided to fill the red carpet NOT with actual entertainment reporters, but with cute twentysomethings who are social media "celebrities."
The result? Absolute chaos.
Although NATAS hired four “social media experts” to interview the guests on the red carpet, there was one girl in particular who was an absolute mess.
Meet Brittany Furlan, a certified *`*`Vine Celebrity`*`*
She has 6.5 million Vine followers for riveting cinematic work like this:
Anyways, this woman was tasked with interviewing actors on the red carpet and she came up with some pretty offensive lines like…
“What’s it like to be a black man on a soap opera these days?” – Her opening line to Lawrence Saint-Victor of “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
“We’re going to get you away from us before we rape you.” – Coming onto Ryan Paevey of “General Hospital”
“I don’t want to go to jail for this one...Oh, so he's legal!” – Hitting on child actor Daniel Polo
When Sharon Osbourne was unimpressed by Furlan's unimpressive Sharon Osbourne impression.
When she asked Giuliana Rancic if she would adopt her, in the midst of her surrogacy miscarriage drama.
After the awards show, realizing how much backlash she was getting, Brittany posted this on Twitter:
Would Alexander the Great have conquered the world if he 'dialed it back'? -Kenny Powers— Brittany Furlan (@BrittanyFurlan) June 23, 2014
So, clearly, she’s humiliated.
