Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué i Bernabeu was born on February 2, 1987, in Barcelona, Spain, and is most recognized as the center-back for FC Barcelona and boyfriend of Colombian singer Shakira. He began his soccer career on FC Barcelona's youth team and made his professional debut with Manchester United in 2004, before signing a $6 million, four-year contract with FC Barcelona on May 27, 2008.

2009 - 2010
After a picture of Gerard and Nuria Tomas kissing while walking along a Grecian beach hit the press in 2009, months of dating speculations were out to rest and the two were officially a couple. The relationship reportedly ended when he met a Columbian singer, whose hips don't lie.
Spring 2010 - Present
Gerard and Colombian singer Shakira, who is ten years his senior, reportedly began dating after he appeared in the music video of her hit single and the 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem "Waka (This Time for Africa)."
The two initially denied the dating reports, until Shakira finally confirmed their relationship in 2011 by posting a picture of them together via Twitter with a caption reading, "Les presento a mi sol."
In September 2012, Shakira made her baby announcement via Twitter and Facebook, writing, "As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days."
