Phew, that was a close one! Contrary to what you may have heard from the rumor mill, actor Gerard Butler and Travis Barker's ex-wife Shanna Moakler are not dating. And they're also not hooking up, according to sources close to the actor.

Photos have been floating around the blogosphere showing Gerard and Shanna making out at the grand opening of Shin.

Now Gerard's pals are saying nothing happened and everyone is simply overreacting. "They weren’t making out. If you look closely at the photos, they’re really just talking closely. There’s nothing salacious about it. Gerard’s upset they’re being construed as anything else," the pal said.

The little rendezvous took place on the opening night of a restaurant that Gerard just happens to co-own. Do we smell a publicity stunt?
