He’s back in business, baby! Gerard Butler was in rehab for three weeks to nip a prescription medication dependency in the bud. And two days after leaving rehab at the Betty Ford Center, Butler hit up the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Los Angeles on Sunday.
TMZ reported that Butler was being treated for substance abuse last week. The actor was “struggling with pain management” after being given prescription pain medication stemming from his accident on the set of ‘Of Men and Mavericks.’ As the site reported:
“We're told Butler realized he was relying too much on prescription drugs and decided to head off a full-blown addiction by entering Betty Ford three weeks ago.”
So it’s not like he had to be dragged into rehab kicking and screaming. He decided he had a problem and checked himself in. According to TMZ, Butler first encountered problems with pain management when he was shooting ‘300’ back in 2006.
Butler’s manager, Alan Siegel, said: "Gerard left Betty Ford…and he's healthy."
Healthy enough to get his groove on at the Vanity Fair party, wearing a sharp black tux and donning his signature wavy locks. Gerard looked happy, healthy and in good spirits. And also, hot. He looked hot.
Hollyscoop talked to Gerard about his bad boy status in the past, and the actor told us:
“I don’t really think about it.” And in regard to making headlines for his weight loss during ‘Of Men and Mavericks,’ Gerard told Hollyscoop:
“[The Media] love to get involved in things like that. The fact is I'm doing it. It would be nice if they appreciated it. I go through all that work and do it for different roles, and get big for ‘300’ or get heavier for a role, or slim down for a role. It'd be nice if they went 'well look, he's committed'."
