Gerard Butler is at Betty Ford for "pain management." This is almost as confusing as Demi's Red Bull addiction.
According to TMZ, Gerard Butler decided to get a head start with a mounting problem. The actor is reportedly being treated for substance abuse at the Betty Ford Center. Gerard has been at the center for three weeks now, and TMZ reports that he's there for "pain management."
The site says that Butler's issues with pain management started with shooting '300' back in 2006. That's when he started experimenting with and relying on prescription drugs. And during Butler's December 18 surfing accident while shooting 'Of Men and Mavericks,' the problem became worse.
Sources tell TMZ that Butler also has issues with cocaine, but the "root problem" is "the injuries and pain management."
Anyway, Hollyscoop talked to Gerard while he was filming 'Of Men and Mavericks', and the actor told us:
"I’m either surfing or scurfing or standup paddling or filming. I’m filming like 14 hours a day."
He was also in the spotlight recently for losing a lot of weight after shooting the movie. Butler told us:
"I go through all that work and do it for different roles, and get big for 300 or get heavier for a role, or slim down for a role. It'd be nice if they went 'well look, he's committed."
