Gerard Butler Got Stood Up

What girl in her right mind would leave Gerard Butler in the middle of a date? He says he was on a date with a girl a few years ago, and when he came back from the bathroom, she was gone!

He says, "A few years ago, I went out with a girl and we were having a great time. I remember thinking, `I really got this.'

"She went to the toilet, and I thought, `You know what? I'm also going to the toilet.' Maybe I took a little longer to get out of there than I thought. I came back and she was nowhere to be seen. I never saw her again! We went from having a great date to completely losing each other."

She probably thought he was standing her up! The poor girl probably didn't want to look like an idiot just waiting there for him, so she left to save some dignity!

I don't think he's either a jerk or arrogant fuck. I just think men and women don't think and act the same way. He probably thought after she left that he should go to the loo too. He probably thought nothing of it and expected to see her when he came out. If she's single, she must be banging her head on the wall now and well, if she's married, I guess he wasn't the one for her.

Butler told about this many years ago in and interview so it seems People regurgitated and their retelling isn't nearly as amusing as when Gerry told it with his self deprecating charm and laughter. He said they were at the bar in some pub and she went to the restroom and he figured he should go to the men's room but he agonized over whether to leave his jacket (which was leather) there at the bar along with his pack of smokes. It did occur to him if he took everything with him that when she came back she might think he had left but in the end he took it with him. Anyway, he took awhile getting to and from from the loo having run into a friend on the way there and sure enough she had left in all probability thinking that he had been the one to split on her.

He can't be all that arrogant if he told this story about some girl leaving him in the middle of a date. Any way you think about it it doesn't make him sound great: maybe he was boring; maybe she thought he was the type to leave her there; maybe she wasn't as into him as he thought. Btw, a bunch of other gossip sites have now turned this into "Gerard Butler is DESPERATELY SEEKING this missing woman." Hilarious. So I guess we can expect a record number claiming to be this particular woman showing up in gossip rags.
