First an ‘Entourage’ cameo, now this? At what point is President Obama going to be sipping on cocktails at the Chateau Marmont and/or hanging out with Amanda Bynes at Greystone Manor?
President Obama is preparing for reelection, and George Clooney is helping him. Clooney is hosting a 150-seat, $40,000 a plate fundraising dinner for the President. The event will be held at Clooney’s home and co-hosted by DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
Clooney was in attendance at the recent White House State Dinner in honor of British Prime Minister David Cameron, sitting just a few seats away from the president. And he’s also attended two other major Hollywood fundraisers for Obama in Los Angeles this year. So he should have the hang of it.
Obama went Hollywood a long time ago. Harvey Weinstein hosted a fundraiser for Obama back in March, and Michelle Obama co-hosted another fundraiser with Robert De Niro. Obama also once gave a shout out to ‘Parks and Recreation’ star Aziz Ansari.
Clooney has been vocal about is support for the president, but the actor does have some advice for the campaign:
“The Democrats are just very poor, in general, at explaining what it is, when they accomplished something. I think they’re pretty bad at it, and Republicans are very good at it," Clooney told Meet the Press host David Gregory. "Obama...saved the auto industry and he got Osama bin Laden. He passed a health care bill that no one could pass -- if that was a Republican issue. I would be able to sell his presidency as a very successful one. But Democrats are bad at that, we like to pick each other apart."
