George Clooney: Handsome. Talented. Handsome. Charitable.
Always working to improve his work in the Sudan, Clooney has announced that he will auction off his own personal 2008 Tesla “Signature 100” Roadster to raise funds for relief work in Sudan.
This all-electric car has only 1,700 miles on it, proving that a) electric cars aren’t that functional or b) that he has a TON of cars.
The car will be auctioned off by Gooding & Company on behalf of Clooney at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 19 and is expected to fetch up to $125,000. Clooney’s car is one of the earliest production models of the two seat sports car, but you could probably buy a brand new Tesla for the same price.
It just depends on your priorities, prefer antique cars that have been shared by celebrities, or economical brand new cars.
“We are overjoyed to present George Clooney’s Signature 100 Tesla at Pebble Beach because this is an incredible opportunity to purchase a modern collector car with all the right elements: one-owner, celebrity provenance; historical significance; limited-edition rarity and philanthropic ties,” said David Gooding, president and founder of the auction company.
The proceeds will specifically benefit the Satellite Sentinel Project, which is the non-profit organization that Clooney created in an attempt to spy on Sudanese drug lords. Basically, the SSP is a series of satellites that essentially keep an eye on the crime occurring in that region with the hopes of preventing another civil war between northern and southern Sudan.
