George Clooney Donates More Money To Darfur

March 13, 2008

George Clooney definitely puts his money where his mouth is. His humanitarian organization Not On Our Watch has donated $500,000 to a U.N. food agency to help it continue flights going in and out of Sudan's Darfur region. Earlier this week, the World Food Program warned that lack of funds this year would force a halt to the flights ferrying urgently needed supplies in the region at the end of March.

"This is a critical time for the program. Without immediate additional funding, humanitarian aid in the region will be crippled," said Clooney.

Lots of celebrities are involved with their little pet charities, and it seems many do it just for the publicity. Clooney is one of the few that's actually making it his mission to make a difference, and is changing his life to change the lives of the millions who are destitute.

It doesn't surprise me at all. This is a wonderful thing he is doing. I thought he was only going to Darfur to get get others to do something by observing and telling others but now it looks like he's much more personally involved. It makes me proud to be a American and to know that George is one too.
