Clooney Defends Spears and Slams Paparazzi

George Clooney

Finally, a fellow celebrity to support Britney Spears! George Clooney has stepped up and criticized the paparazzi for following Britney Spears.

"You look at the footage of Britney running the red light – there's eight guys with cameras at night in the middle of the street. There are no rules now," he tells ET. "It's getting to a point where people that are not involved are getting hurt."

Clooney who was involved in a motorcycle accident due to a paparazzi chase says that the paparazzi are stupid and are doing illegal things to get their pictures.

"What they're doing is illegal, it's high speed chases and they're competing with each other," he says. "They're not trying to catch me doing something stupid; they're trying to create me doing something stupid. You don't get to break all these laws and then say, 'I'm just doing my job.' The guys that commit all these crimes are rewarded for it. It creates bounty hunters in a way."

What’s Clooney’s advice for the paps? "Take your pictures but don't go 60 mph down a one-way street. Don't cause injury to people who aren't involved."

The paparazzi situation has definitely gotten really bad. I don’t understand how these celebs don’t find it weird when they walk out of the house and there are 50 people following them. It’s like the Verizon network, their just always there.

Well....on the latest video of Britney running a red light, she is not being crowded or swarmed at the light. The paps filmed her running the light as they probably did too to catch the footage). There certainly should be a limit to the stalking and swarming that goes on where celebrities are concerned, especially on the roads. However, Brit has been known to set the stage herself in order to get and keep publicity.Common sense should prevail on both sides, but unfortunately it just doesn't.

Amen Brutha George. The stalkarazzi need to be stopped. There should be a 100 foot rule. You cannot get within 100 feet of a celebrity unless it is on the red carpet or a designated official event. As for the car chases and such, 10 car length. When I run for office, and I will in a few decades, I will push for tough laws here in Cali, LOL

This is a sick world. What`s wrong with people? How can you CHASE someone like that? Put yourself and others in danger? Kill someone for a paycheck? I know what people say when I talk like this: they`re celebreties, it`s the downside of their carrieer, they agreed to this blablablablabla. But you know what, even if they had signed a f***** contract that said: by earning this much money in public, I agree to constant harassing------we still should treat them like human beings! People who say its okay to ignore celebs privacy and hide their s****y behaviour behind the oh-they-are-celebreties-its-okay-slogan just make me sick. Its not ethical, its just plain wrong. Doesnt matter what they agreed to, or what kind of an example the tabloids and magazines are giving, for christs sake start using your own head and listen to your conscience! they are not celebreties, they are HUMAN BEINGS, mothers and father and children and brothers. Would you do something like that to your neighbour or sibling? And they`re not that rich by the way. Rawr.
