Get ready to see a whole lotta Clooney for the next few months. What’s that, you’ve been ready? You were born ready? Me too, my friend. Me too.
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio have been dominating the nominations this awards season. With movies like J. Edgar, The Descendants and Moneyball out, it’s no surprise.
The Screen Actors Guild nominations were announced this morning by Regina King and Judy Greer, and Pitt, DiCaprio and Clooney are all nominated for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Leading Role. With Leo’s talent, I’m pretty sure he could do a remake of Harry and the Hendersons, and he’d somehow still get nominated.
These seasoned Hollywood pros will go up against relative unknowns Demian Bichir and Jean Dujardin. Bichir stars in A Better Life and Dujardin is the lead in the silent throwback, The Artist.
Michelle Williams is nominated for her work in My Week With Marilyn. It’s well-deserved. As much as Hollywood starlets love to channel the icon, Williams proved that it takes more than just a bleach job and a Playboy shoot. Sorry, Lindsay.
Williams is up against Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and Tilda Swinton.
The Descendants was nominated for Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture, and announcer Judy admitted to Hollyscoop she already knew about the honor. "Well, I'm going to have to be honest with you, I found out before we want on stage. So what was going through my head was that they told us to go slower when announcing the nominated films, so I was like, 'I hope we're going slow enough'. When I found out I was really really excited and I feel like it hasn't hit me yet, I need like another hour. I feel like its a nomination for Alexander Payne because he's the one who found us through the ends of the earth and brought us all to he island in the middle of the ocean. Then made us work together."
So how will she congratulate George if he wins for Best Actor for his work in The Descendants? "I don't have his number," she joked with us. "I think he's smarter than that to give it to me, but yeah, I wasn't at all surprised. His performance is flawless in the movie and I can't imagine that he wouldn't have been [nominated]."
HOLLYSCOOP is helping one lucky winner get a red carpet makeover SAG style. Winner will get a red carpet makeover by our Hollyscoop glam squad, which will then be feature on our Hollyscoop national news show. We will have the winner win a red carpet gown, jewels, have a makeup artist to the stars do their makeup, have a hairstylist to the stars do their makeup. We will then shoot them on the red carpet at the SAG awards, walking the red carpet and offer two tickets in the bleachers.
TV nominees include Modern Family, 30 Rock, Glee, The Big Bang Theory and The Office.
Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Dexter, Game of Thrones and The Good Wife are all nominated as a drama series.
