Singer Gavin DeGraw was hospitalized after he was violently assaulted by multiple attackers late Sunday night in New York City.
He was so badly beaten he had to be taken to the emergency room by ambulance for observation.
The “Not Over You” singer was taken to Bellevue Hospital with a broken nose and several cuts to his face, according to police reports.
According to TMZ, who first reported the attack, the incident happened around 4:30AM in Manhattan at 6th Street and 1st Avenue. Apparently he was out with friends with when he was attacked by a "pack of thugs" on the street and then hit by a taxi as he stumbled away. Police have already ruled out a robbery, but we still don’t know why he was attacked.
His reps say in a statement: "Gavin DeGraw was assaulted ... and was taken to the emergency room at Bellevue Hospital by ambulance. He is currently under observation. We have no additional information at this time."
A source adds that the singer "was attacked" and it was "not his fault."
Sadly he was scheduled to perform on Tuesday night in Saratoga Springs, NY with Maroon 5 and Train and another Friday at Jones Beach Theater, but "They don't know yet if he will be okay to make the show tomorrow," a source adds.
Gavin’s hit song "I Don't Want to Be" is the theme song for the CW TV show One Tree Hill.
McGraw has a new album due out in September and has been on tour with Train and Maroon 5. Stay tuned for more on his condition!
