Gary Coleman’s ex-wife Shannon Price is about as shameless as they come. She not only sold disturbing pictures of Coleman on his death bed in the hospital, but is now trying to take over his estate.
According to TMZ, Price just filed papers attempting to become the special administrator of Coleman’s estate. She also submitted a hand-written note from Gary that allegedly makes her the sole beneficiary of his estate.
A portion of the document reads: Shannon is the "sole heir of any and all monies, properties, bank accounts, earnings, model trains, vehicles, cars, toys, games, electronics, homes, other inheritances if any, all things physical and/or intellectual."
It also includes the very odd following statement: "This I have done because of my personal selfishness and weakness and I Love her with all my heart."
It also allegedly makes any previous wills, like the one created in 2006, null and void. "I revoke all previous wills. I specifically disinherit my biological parents and siblings,” the documents reads.
Price also claims she was Gary’s common-law wife, even though the two were technically divorced at the time of his death. Her lawyer claims in the documents filed, "Shannon and the decedent continued to have a romantic relationship and engage in romantic and sexual relations” and mentions that had joint bank accounts, incurred debt jointly, filed joint tax returns, celebrated holidays and other important days together.
The next step will be to see whether or not this can hold up in court—Utah does acknowledge common-law marriages. However, the law requires that the couple "request to have a common-law marriage recognized" during the relationship or within one year after the end of the relationship.
This will be so sad if she walks away with his money. We don’t even know who else we would want to take over his estate, but it’s definitely not her!
