Footloose

The much anticipated remake of Footloose will be in theaters October 14. But you have a chance to win a trip to the premiere.

All you have to do is create and upload a video of your best dance moves, and if you've got what it takes, you'll be entered for a chance to win: www.footloosemovie.com.

Newcomer Kenny Wormald stars in the flick, and Hollyscoop had the chance to talk to him about his new gig.
Justin Timberlake can add casting director to the list of things he can do.

The singer/actor/comedian is now a talent scout. Sort of.

When director Craig Brewer was casting the lead role of Ren Mccormack in the new remake of “Footloose,” he asked Justin Timberlake for a recommendation of any dancers he knew that might be able to act.

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure!

Zac Efron and Chace Crawford might have thought they were too cool to reprise Kevin Bacon’s original role for the remake of Footloose, but newcomer Kenny Wormald will happily take their spot.

Chace Crawford Drops Out of Footloose Remake

Paramount Pictures announced on Tuesday that Kenny would take on the role that Kevin Bacon made famous back in 1984.

The musical is about a city boy who comes to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned.

The newcomer has plenty of dance experience. He was in the MTV series "Dancelife”

Wormald will star alongside hottie Julianne Hough so that should be good! The movie is set to hit theatres on April 1, 2011.
Maybe they should reconsider remaking the movie Footloose since it's not having the greatest look.

The star of the film, Chace Crawford has dropped out of the film because he is going to be too busy filming Gossip Girl this summer and will not have time too shoot.

Zac Efron was originally planning on being in the film but he also dropped out because he did not want to be typecast as the musical guy.

Paramount Pictures will now cast an unknown actor for the for which was originally made famous by Kevin Bacon in the original 1984 film.

Maybe they ask Kevin Bacon if he wants to remake his own role? That would be pretty cool.

Evan Rachel Wood is set to play Mary Jane Watson in the Broadway edition of Spider-Man. Hollyscoop first reported the news of the casting back in December.

But then scheduling conflicts got in the way for Evan, causing her to second guess her commitment to the Broadway show. But Moviefone has just confirmed that Evan is indeed on board as Mary Jane, and has pulled out of another movie to make things work. The website reports Wood has quit Zach Snyder’s Sucker Punch.

Evan also spoke with Sci Fi Wire about the upcoming Braoadway show, saying, "We're still looking for our Spider-Man, but it's going to be incredible. I just spoke with [director] Julie [Taymor] today, actually. It's going to be a crazy rock 'n' roll circus show. Julie's doing what she did with The Lion King to this: She's just taking it to a whole 'nother level."

Who could her co-star be?? They need a young Hollywood actor who can sing and act. They’d better not ask Zac Efron, because he’s over musicals. But maybe Chace Crawford wouldn’t mind doing a Broadway stint after he’s done taking Zac’s leftovers in the Footloose remake!

Chace Crawford has his work cut out for him in the next few months. He’s been cast as the lead in the Footloose remake, which requires a lot of singing and dancing—neither of which Chace does.

But before you write him off, you should know that his audition for the role wasn’t a piece of cake. Chace says the audition process for director Kenny Ortega and the producers was pretty brutal.

He says, "It was, like, five hours of the most rigorous tests ever. I walked out very confident."

Chace will soon begin a rigorous training regimen before filming begins next March. He says, "I’ve got some movement in me, but I'm not a dancer. I need to start stretching now."

As for Chace’s leading lady, it’s still up in the air. Both Julianne Hough and Hayden Panettiere will screen-test this week, according to EW. Producer Neil Meron says, "It's a much more singing-intensive movie for the female lead.” This may give Julianne a leg up on the competition, though we hear Hayden’s got some pipes on her as well.

Who would you rather see as Chace’s co-star?

Could Miley Cyrus finally be breaking free of Hannah Montana?

Word on the street is that she’s the latest young actress being considered for the leading female role in Footloose.

A source close to the tween tells E! News,"They've expressed interest in Miley for the part.” A source close to the production also added that Miley is “definitely in the mix.”

Now the competition is between Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes, Julianna Hough, and Miley. And those are just the ones we’ve heard about! The role is of Ariel Moore, the independent daughter of a preacher.

Just as an example of how big a star Miley is, she didn’t have to audition for the role. That’s right, all her previous work has apparently proven her ability to sing and dance.

In more Footloose news, Chace Crawford was just confirmed for the leading male. Could you picture chemistry between Chace and Miley? Or would Hayden, Amanda, or Julianna do a better job?

Dancing with the Stars Derek Hough may be boogying his way to a new role. Sources say he’s the latest star to be considered for the Footloose remake.

E!’s Mark Malkin first reported the news, saying he’s met with people involved in the remake. Derek commented on the news, saying, “I haven’t auditioned, but I’ve met with the people.”

Does he really even need an audition? Each week on Dancing was enough to see that he’s got skills! And now that he’s off the show, he’s got time to move on to a new project!

Adding fuel to the rumor is Derek’s statement about possibly not returning to the show next season. He recently told E!, “Mark (Ballas) and I might not be back. We have other things going on. There’s a bunch of stuff on the table right now.”

He added, "Footloose is definitely really close to me. I would love to be a part of something like that. If the Footloose thing doesn't work out, I'm still excited about whatever could come our way with the dancing, the singing and the acting," Hough said. "Like Hugh Jackman said at the Oscars, 'Musicals are back!'"

We could honestly see Derek playing the lead role in Footloose over Chace Crawford, who currently the frontrunner. What do you think?

Hayden Panettiere is footloose and fancy free! Not only will Chace Crawford reportedly star in the remake, but Hayden wants to as well!

According to E! News, Hayden recently auditioned for director Kenny Ortega, and he was quite impressed with her. As you may know, this remake is being turned into a musical, so Hayden’s audition involved singing.

A source tells E! News, “They were really impressed. No one realized what a good singer she is.”

Hayden isn’t new to the singing game. Her Heroes cast mates say she always took the stage at cast parties, and you may remember her debut pop single last year, Wake Up Call.

Inside sources say if Hayden makes it to the next round, she’ll have to dance, followed by a table read with Crawford. Chace isn’t officially on board for the role of Ren McCormack, but sources say it’s pretty much a done deal.

Can you see Chace and Hayden pulling off the lead roles in Footloose?

Zac Efron has been getting a lot of heat since dropping out of the Footloose remake. It’s led people to think all the fame has already gone to his head. But Zac is defending his recent decision and has spoken up about his future plans.

Zac tells Entertainment Weekly he didn’t want to be known as “musical guy.” He says, "I'm sure Footloose would have been a huge challenge…but the actors that I love and the actors that work really hard in this industry are always shaking things up, trying new genres, acquiring new skill sets. That's what's always going to appeal to me: the unknown."

He went on to say that those aforementioned people he looks up to are Leonardo DiCaprio , Johnny Depp, and Michael J. Fox. Sounds a little bit like he’s counting his chickens before they hatch.

But Zac does have another film in the works. He’ll be starring in the Death & Life of Charlie St. Cloud, which is being directed by the same person who did 17 Again. Zac will play a young man who takes a job as a cemetery caretaker where his younger brother has recently been buried. He has weekly meetings with his deceased sibling and begins a romantic relationship with a young woman believed to be missing in a sailing accident. He's not sure if she is real or an apparition.

Do you think it was smart for Zac to drop out of Footloose, or is he too new to the game to be reneging on deals?
