Filth an Wisdom

The trailer has been released for Madonna's directorial debut, Filth And Wisdom. It tells the story of three roommates who are forced into bad behavior in an effort to make more money than they have at the moment, which is very little.

A Ukrainian immigrant, A.K. (Eugene Hutz), finances his dreams of trans-continental superstardom with his band, Gogol Bordello, by working as a tranny. He's secretly obsessed with Holly (Holly Weston), a broke ballerina who works as a stripper to pay the bills.

Juliette (Vicky Mclure) steals medicine from the pharmacy where she works to make herself feel better about the starving children in Africa. Quite a storyline! The trailer looks great!

Last week Madonna was doing humanitarian work in NYC for the children of Malawi and this week she’s in Berlin promoting her latest project, Filth an Wisdom.

Don’t worry you won't find this superwoman acting in the film. It’s actually Madonna's directorial debut. Wonder if she's getting any Directing 101 courses from her hubby Guy Ritchiesince she's following in his footsteps.

The comedy/drama/musical/romance starring Richard E. Grant, Eugene Hütz, Stephen Graham, Holly Weston, Vicky McClure, Inder Manocha and Shobu Kapoor will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival today.

The story features a Russian immigrant, ballet school, lap dancing, cultural revolution, poetry, night club, punk rock band, book writer, dominatrix and gypsy.

The Gypsy punk band that appears in the film is portrayed by real-life Gypsy punk band, Gogol Bordello, who also contributed three songs to the film's soundtrack. Hopefully, Madonna will gain acclaim with this film and it won't end up being a flop like Evit or Swept Away.
