Uh oh, it’s been nearly a week since “Fifty Shades of Grey” casting rumors arose and now we’re having to deal with more “Fifty Shades” hearsay?
After Emma Watson was rumored to be starring as Anastasia Steele in the romance-novel-turned-sex-toy-turned-hottest-commodity-in-Hollywood, the film’s producers immediately shot down the rumors, claiming that no one has been cast yet.
Now, some rando from “Gossip Girl” is reportedly “in talks” to take on the lead role of Ana.
Katie Cassidy, who had a recurring role on “Gossip Girl” a couple of seasons ago and another guest starring role that same year on “Melrose Place,” is now the front runner to play the lead role in the movie adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” This according to The Daily Mail, whose only source is “according to reports.”
So far the film’s producers Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca haven’t said anything about it on Twitter.
They did go out to dinner with the book’s author E.L. James late last week, writing, “Tonight @MichaelDe_Luca and I had a nice dinner with the lovely @E_L_James. Great fun seeing her.”
For now, everything is just rumors, but the so-called actresses in line to play Ana include Emma Stone and “Pretty Little Liars” actress Lucy Hale.
For Christian Grey, actors like Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron, Alex Pettyfer, Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer are all rumored for the role.
I give up on following these casting rumors. Until IMDB tells me so, I won’t believe it.
