Oscar Fashion Fever

Fashion

It’s the war of the red carpet dresses. The most memorable gowns in Oscar history were taken out of storage this week for another chance in the spotlight. A Celebration of Oscar Fashion was held to provide inspiration for this year's nominees, who are obviously looking to outdo previous red-carpet gowns.

Obviously, Halle Berry's burgundy Elie Saab gown that she wore to the 2002 Oscars and Julia Robert's vintage Valentino number from 2001 were among the most popular to come out of storage.

Cher’s dress made the cut as well, which was described by Vogue's Andre Leon Talley as "one of the most original Oscar red-carpet sweepstakes winners". She wore the dress in 1988 and it definitely made the singer stand out from the crowd. Some of the gowns that were in the show dated back as far as 1942.

So what should we expect from this year's Oscar ceremony? According to Andre, who is helping “Dreamgirls” star Jennifer Hudson choose her gown, “it's going to be all about sleek, sexy, old-school glamour.”
