Designer Jill Stuart displayed her Fall '07 collection at the grand New York Public Library yesterday. The line was inspired by the fresh, modern fashion of early 60’s Parisian cinema. The collecion embraced structure, shape and a lot of energy.
The dominant colors that took center stage was black, purple and cobalt blue which Stuart turned to Picasso’s Portrait of Dora Marr to extract. We're really digging the blue, and we're certain that's its gonna be the hottest color for Fall. Another hot trend we spotted through the collection was the high waisted pants and shorts. Get rid of your low wasted pants cause the higher it gets the better. The line also featured A-line dresses which brought a retro feel to the show including mod minis and cropped jackets layered over opaque tights and fitted sleeves. Square toe footwear with patent details finished off the look.
The season also marks the second collection for Stuart’s new men’s line, Stuart Curtis which featured leather bomber jackets, fitted jeans, and cashmere sweaters. Layered for chic street appeal, the men's collection also featured sleek black leather boots, the first men's footwear that ever Stuart has shown.
