...Fashion hell at least. Fashion genius Roberto Cavalli was found guilty of tax evasion by a court in Florence yesterday. However, under a technicality in Italian law it is unlikely that he will be jailed.
Vogue.com reported the statement released by lawyer’s on behalf of the designer:
"The defence counsels are firmly convinced that the crime assumed on the part of the public prosecutor is utterly groundless and that in the appeal procedure, Mr Cavalli will be acquitted in the fullest terms"
The case arises from an incident in 2002 when Cavalli was accused of putting a £1.8 million refurbishment on his home through his company’s expenses. His defence argued that the villa was the headquarters of his company and they intend to appeal.
It would be a crime against humanity fashion if he was jailed!
