It’s
Hollyscoop fashion Thursday and this week its all about “Plaids”. Plaids have come a long way since
Kurt Cobain’s flannel-wearing grunge days.
Today, “Plaid fever” is taking full control of the runways of Paris and Milan. The patterns are more mature and sophisticated unlike the past.
At this years opening gala for the Met’s new Costume Institute exhibit “AngloMania”, designer
Alexander McQueen gave “ fashionistas” a sneak peak to his Fall 06 collection by dressing
Sarah Jessica Parker in his infamous plaid dress. The “Plaid Frenzy” can also be found in collections of
Balenciaga and
Burberry.
It seems that everyone is going plaid crazy from eveningwear to casual wear to shirts, pants, skirts and shoes. A word of advice to all you plaid lovers, the look works well when it’s not overdone. These days, Plaid is all about colors and not just the standard red and black, try to rebel against the old and try something new.
If you can’t afford the designer plaids don’t worry. Check out the pocket friendly plaid tops at
