Farrah Fawcett is literally fighting for her life, her longtime partner
Ryan O'Neal wants to help her fight as husband and wife.
Ryan tells ETonline.com, "I'd do that, I would do that (marry Fawcett). She's still a little bit hesitant. I'm working though, I'm working.
"You know she's been married, I've been married. She's said, 'We have a good thing'. But I said, 'You said that 30 years ago, shouldn't there be a sea change?' Maybe there is, you never know."
The old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, why fix it?" but these circumstances are certainly different. Cancer or not, Farrah could still make brides half her age envious of her beauty.
Meanwhile, in a new interview that aired on Thursday's Today show, Ryan speaks out about his fears of losing Farrah. "Semi-prepared to let her go," he told Meredith Vieira.
"I let her go weeks ago and weeks ago, but she came back...I keep promising to take her to Italy," he says in a lighter moment. "She said, 'I'll drive.' "
