As you know, Farrah Fawcett has been struggling with cancer since 2006.

Last June she announced she would allow a camera crew to follow her as she sought treatment, in hopes to bring awareness to the disease. She also underwent experimental treatments that aren’t available in the U.S.

The two-hour special, entitled Farrah’s Story is now completed. It will air next week on NBC News, taking a very personal look at Farrah’s struggle with anal cancer.

During filming, Farrah said, “This film is very personal. At the time, I didn’t know if anybody would ever see it. But at some point, the footage took on a life of its own and dictated that it be seen.”

Her friend Alana Stewart shot most of the video. Ryan O’Neal and former Charlie’s Angels co-stars Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson also appear.

Farrah says that she would have liked to have kept her cancer private, but realized others might benefit from learning about her experiences.

This has got to be the hardest thing she’s ever done. It’s tough enough to go through treatment, but to have cameras on you at your darkest hours is so hard to imagine. We’re pulling for Farrah to make a full recovery.

Farrah’s Story will air Friday, May 15th from 9-11PM.
