Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett's photo was notably absent from the Academy Awards tribute on Sunday night and fans of Fawcett, including her longtime lover Ryan O'Neal were left furious and wanted answers.

Agents, publicists and actors were featured in the memorial, but Farrah, who is a TV legend, was left out of the photomontage.

The executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is now apologizing to the friends, family and fans of Farrah Fawcett, saying, "There's nothing you can say to people, particularly to family members, within a day or two of the show that helps at all. They tend to be surprised and hurt, and we understand that and we're sorry for it."

So why was she left out of the tribute? He said he felt her tribute would be more "fitting" for the Emmy Awards.

Ryan O'Neal's daughter, Oscar-winner Tatum O'Neal, also issued a statement Tuesday. It said: "On behalf of myself, my father Ryan O’Neal and my entire family, we are deeply saddened that a truly beautiful and talented actress Farrah Fawcett was not included in the memorial montage during the 82nd Academy Awards. We are bereft with this exclusion of such an international icon who inspired so many for so many reasons. Beautiful, talented Farrah will never be forgotten by her family and amazing fans."

No matter how you put it, Farrah was a legend and she deserved to be included in that photomontage. Plain and simple.
The media is up in arms over Farrah Fawcett being left out of last night’s In Memoriam at the Oscars. Each year the Academy recognizes people of the film industry who have passed in the last year, but since Farrah was predominantly a television actress, she wasn’t included.

People like Patrick Swayze, Ron Silver, Natasha Richardson, David Carradine were all a part of the tribute, but Farrah and actress Bea Arthur were not. Film critic Roger Ebert was one of the first to criticize. He tweeted, "No Farrah in the memorial. They have a lot of 'splaining to do."

Craig Nevius, who worked Fawcett on her documentary Farrah's Story told Radar Online, "Farrah's shocking omission from the In Memoriam montage on the Oscars isn't a reflection of Farrah. It's a reflection of the producers and of the Academy itself. After all, this is a broadcast - as opposed to a 'production' - that has become all about shuffling winners on and off stage and cutting off acceptance speeches in order to make more air time for jokes without punchlines and scripted spontaneity the likes of which we haven't seen since vaudeville. They should be ashamed of themselves and owe a public apology in the name of Farrah Fawcett."

Jane Fonda also expressed her disappointment, tweeting, "Where was Farrah Fawcett? She should have been included."

A rep for the Oscars replied, "It is highly unlikely that we forgot about Farrah Fawcett but we unfortunately don't include everyone each year. There are many angles that are looked at as to who to include and unfortunately we don't include everyone."

Do you think this was a snub, or was the Academy right in leaving Farrah out?
Don't MISS out on Breaking News!
Documents have just been obtained showing the details of the late Farrah Fawcett’s will, and the news may surprise you! According to Radaronline, Farrah Fawcett’s longtime love Ryan O'Neal was not named in her official will.

The document, which was last updated on August 9th, 2007, dictates that she leaves $4.5 million to her son Redmond O'Neal, and $100,000 to one of her ex-lovers named Greg Lott. Ryan, her best friend Alana Stewart, nor Craig Nevius are mentioned anywhere.

Farrah also leaves $500,000 to her nephew Greg Walls, $500,000 to her father James in the will. She says she wishes to die at home, which we now know did not happen. Farrah died on June 25th at St. John's hospital in Santa Monica, California.

So why would Farrah leave the people closest to her in her final days out of the will? Perhaps we’ll get answers if the second part of the documentary ever gets released. Alana is pushing to get it made along with Ryan.

In addition, Lott spent the past few months of Farrah’s life claiming to various media outlets that he was her secret boyfriend. He told a British newspaper he last spoke to her April 9th and says that Ryan banned him from seeing her. Sounds like there’s more to the story than what we just saw from the documentary.

Here’s a confession you don’t hear everyday. Ryan O'Neal says he hit on his daughter Tatum O’Neal at Farrah Fawcett’s funeral. He says he didn’t recognize her after years of estrangement.

Ryan tells Vanity Fair in their upcoming September issue, "I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me. I said to her, 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me--Tatum!' I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter. It's so sick."

Tatum says she was weirded out by it, either, saying, "That's our relationship in a nutshell. You make of it what you will. It had been a few years since we'd seen each other, and he was always a ladies' man, a bon vivant."

Ryan and Tatum haven’t been close for years now, especially since she wrote her 2004 memoir A Paper Life. Tatum says Ryan "has every right to be angry about the book; no parent wants to hear their kid saying s**** things about them... But what I wrote in the book was true. I've got a battle with drugs, but I'm a strong, independent person, and I fight for myself, and my father and I butt heads."

Ryan goes on in the interview to say that he knows he’s not the best father. He says of his kids, "Just look around at my work -- they're either in jail or they should be.”

Sadly, Ryan is probably right about that. But that doesn’t excuse him hitting on his daughter at Farrah’s funeral! What is wrong with this family?!
Farrah Fawcett's son Redmond may be in prison, but he wasn't far from her heart.

According to Farrah's will, she left her entire fortune to her son Redmond O'Neal.

Farrah reportedly updated her will in 2007, and left him approximately $5.5 million dollars.

According to British tabloid the Mail on Sunday, "Farrah appointed two trustees to make sure the money supports her son's journey into sobriety rather than giving him the means to destroy himself. Redmond's inheritance will be tightly controlled."

Only problem is Redmond has been battling an addiction to drugs for several years now. He has been in and out of rehab several times, and is currently behind bars on drug charges.

Giving a drug addict a ton of money isn't exactly the best idea. According to the two executors of her will, he will be given an allowance every month and funds to buy his own home. Lets just hope his money doesn't go to waste on drugs or alcohol!
Farrah Fawcett never won an Emmy during her lifetime, though she was nominated three different times.

Her acting nominations were for roles in The Burning Bed (1984), Small Sacrifices (1989) and The Guardian (2004). But this morning, Farrah received a posthumous Emmy nomination for her executive producing of her documentary Farrah’s Story.

Farrah’s longtime best friend Alana Stewart said of her Emmy nod, “It's very bittersweet. Farrah passed away three weeks ago today. I know that she would be so, so happy. This was so important to her, this project. She's been nominated before, and I just know that this would be the most important one of all.”

Ryan O'Neal echoed that statement, saying, "For the Television Academy to recognize Farrah's Story with this nomination is such a wonderful acknowledgment for Farrah and her legacy.

"I know that she is smiling that fabulous smile right now in heaven, and that she is grateful that the show has been so well received not only by her peers in the industry but by the public at large."

So sad! That documentary is one of the things people will remember Farrah most for. So we hope she wins the Emmy!
Farrah Fawcett's best friend Alana Stewart has decided to publish the late actress’ diaries. She announced plans to publish the diary Farrah kept, which chronicles her battle with anal cancer.

The book, entitled My Journey With Farrah: A Story of Life, Love, and Friendship, is scheduled to hit bookstores on August 11th through HarperCollins.

Alana says of the book, "Farrah had originally encouraged me to write this book—it was her idea. My hope is that people will find this book to be a heartfelt tribute to my friend of 30 years and her valiant fight against cancer."

Part of the proceeds from the sale of the tome will go toward the Farrah Fawcett Foundation for cancer research. We think Farrah would have been very proud of this project.

She was willing to document her struggle with cancer for the greater good of educating people about it, and this goes along with that theme.

Redmond O'Neal was back in court today, making it his first appearance since his mother’s funeral on June 30th.

Redmond showed up to Los Angeles County Superior Court Thursday morning wearing a blue jumpsuit and handcuffs, for a hearing that only lasted five minutes.

O’Neal’s lawyers met with Judge Sharon Miller to discuss Redmond’s probation violation case.

The judge ended up granting a continuance, and a preliminary hearing was set for August 21st. Redmond will have to remain behind bars until then. Don't drop the soap.
Thanks to billionaire businessman Kirk Kerkorian, Farrah Fawcett enjoyed a little extra time with her close friends and family members.

Kerkorian funded Farrah's trip to Germany back in 2007 so she can seek alternative treatment for her anal cancer.

Farrah's trip was documented by Craig Nevius who at the time said, "She has been in Germany. That's true. She's getting alternative treatments not allowed in the U.S."

And now we know who was the generous man who made it all possible. A rep for the 92-year-old mogul confirms to the New York Daily News that he helped to pay for Fawcett's medical care.

A source tells the publication, "He just saw a friend in pain and wanted to help."

How generous of Kerkorian! Unfortunately we lost Farrah to anal cancer on June 25th, but clearly she touched so many people’s lives during her short time with us.
Ryan O'Neal made sure he was in charge of Farrah Fawcett's funeral so he could control who was allowed to attend, and who he would turn away.

While Farrah and Ryan's incarcerated son Redmond O'Neal was allowed to leave prison to attend the funeral, Ryan's other son Griffin was turned away from his father.

Griffin drove 300 miles to L.A. to attend Farrah's funeral, but Ryan refused to let him stay "because he's a bad guy."

In Griffin's defense he said he attended because, "I just wanted to say goodbye to someone that I knew and loved for 33 years."

Ryan's daughter Tatum O'Neal was also asked not to attend the funeral. Sounds a little harsh! Sure they have struggled with drugs in the past, but so has Redmond. Do you think it was wrong of Ryan not to let his other children attend Farrah's funeral?
