Bust out your Kleenex and popcorn, Eva Mendes stars in new flick "Girl In Progress" that looks to be equal parts heartwarming and hilarious in this new mother-daughter coming of age flick.
The film follows the story of Eva Mendes, who plays a mother that has lost her way. She got pregnant at 17 and now that she has a 17-year-old daughter of her own, she's acting more like her daughters flaky friend than her mother.
The movie also introduces new actress Cierra Ramirez as Mendes's daughter, who decides that she doesn't need her mother anymore and wants to get a jumpstart on adulthood with or without her moms help.
Both Mendes's character and her daughter seek attention in their own ways, Mendes has an affair with a married doctor while Ramirez tries to run away from home.
The mother and daughter duo are united when Ramirez begins to befriend her English teacher, played by Patricia Arquette. This flick has all the elements of a classic coming-of-age story in an endearing tale about a mother and her daughter.
Also, the film sees appearances from the handsome Eugenio Derbez, who plays Mendes's co-worker and new suitor. Girl In Progress hits theaters April 27th, 2012.
