Eva Mendes. biography
Eva Mendes was born on March 5, 1974, in Miami, Florida and raised in Los Angeles after her parents divorced when she was 10. Although she aspired to be a nun at an early age, Eva later dropped her religious calling once she began studying the art of acting under Ivana Chubbock while attending Cal State Northridge. It wasn't long before she dropped out of school to pursue an acting career full-time and eventually made her on-screen debut in the TV series ER (1998).
That same year, Eva appeared in Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror and A Night at the Roxbury followed by the 2000 horror flick Urban Legends: Final Cut. The following year, Eva gained much-needed attention for her nude scene in the presence of Denzel Washington in Training Day (2001), which ultimately led to her first supportive roles in 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) and Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) with Johnny Depp.
Later in 2003, Eva reunited with Denzel Washington in the action thriller Out of Time prior to giving a memorable, comedic performance opposite Will Smith in the comedy Hitch, both of which further increased her popularity.
Despite starring in a string of lackluster films, including Trust the Man (2005), Guilty Hearts (2006) and Ghost Rider (2007), Eva was able to bounce back with a stimulating dramatic performance as the girlfriend of Joaquin Phoenix's character in the thriller We Own the Night (2007) followed by a supportive role alongside Samuel L. Jackson in the crime thriller Cleaner (2007).
From 2008 to 2010, Eva continued popping up alongside some of Hollywood's biggest names such as Meg Ryan in The Women (2008), Nicholas Cage in The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (2009) and Will Ferrell in The Other Guys (2010) and is still one of the hottest commodities on the Hollywood market.
Eva's most recent projects include, the dramedy Girl in Progress (2012), the fantasy drama Holy Motors (2012), the crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines (2012) alongside Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, the fantasy thriller How to Catch a Monster (2014) and the made-for-TV comedy Clear History (2014) with Jon Hamm and Kate Hudson.
