ER

It's been six years since the hit TV show wrapped up, but Friends is still the most watched TV show of the decade.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show's 2004 finale is the highest-rated broadcast in America since 2000. 52.5 million viewers tuned in to watch Rachel, Monica, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe and Ross say goodbye.

The series, which launched the careers of Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, ran for a decade between 1994 and 2004.

Friends took the cake but Survivor came in at a close second with 51.7 million viewers. Believe it or not Joe Millionaire was third with its 2003 show getting an audience of 40 million.

E.R., American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, Frasier and Spin City also made the top ten list. What was your favorite Friends episode?

Maura Tierney is best known for her role on the long-running ER. But unfortunately she’s in the news today for health problems she’s having. Maura will reportedly be undergoing surgery to treat a tumor in her breast.

Maura also has a new series coming out this fall on NBC called Parenthood, and this has delayed production on the show. She released a statement today to clear up any rumors.

It reads:

"In an effort to guard my privacy, it seems that the wording of NBC's press release has unfortunately caused some confusion and undue alarm about my health.”

"I have discovered a tumor in my breast which requires surgery. I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed. My doctors have all assured me this is a very treatable condition. I'm very optimistic as to the outcome and want to thank everyone who has sent positive thoughts and support. I look forward to going back to work soon."

We’re glad to hear she’s optimistic about her condition! We look forward to seeing Maura on the show, which is scheduled to begin airing episodes on September 23rd.

ER finally came to an end last night, after 15 seasons on the air. But the NBC hit didn’t go out quietly. The show proved its popularity as 16.3 million viewers tuned in to watch. This was even bigger than when George Clooney returned to the show last month. The finale was the most-watch drama finale since Murder, She Wrote ended in 1996. It was also way up from the average 9.3 million who regularly tune in.

The two-hour episode brought back ER stars like Noah Wyle, Eriq La Salle and Laura Innes alongside current cast members John Stamos and Angela Bassett.

While the finale numbers were fairly impressive last night, it doesn’t hold a candle to how sitcoms go out. According to Neilsen ratings, when Cheers exited the NBC Thursday night lineup in 1993, there were 45.5 million people watching. The end of Seinfeld drew 41.3 million people in 1998.dramas. Friends had 29.2 million viewers for its 2004 finale.

But ER has been a permanent fixture on the NBC lineup, and helped to launch a lot of careers. Where would George Clooney be without that show? Maybe fans can keep their hopes up for a movie!
ER fans have been waiting for years for Dr. Doug Ross aka George Clooney to return back to ER and the wait came to an end in last nights episode.

George Clooney returned back to the small screen as Dr. Doug Ross on Thursday's ER.

Dr. Ross and nurse Hathaway still seem to be going strong, so strong that they have twin daughters.

ER will have its season finale on April 2.

ER is adding a Gilmore Girl to their cast! Cutie Alexis Bledel is joining the cast of the iconic television show for the series finale.

She’s still pretty young, so we wondered what role they’ be placing her in. And now we hear through MSNBC that she’ll be playing the role of intern Dr. Julia Wise.

Alexis joins several other stars who will be appearing and re-appearing on the show as it comes to a close, including Julianna Margulies, Susan Sarandon, and ofcourse George Clooney.

But why would they bring in Alexis for just one episode? It just doesn’t seem worth it! Maybe they’re grooming her for a spin-off show.

She carried the show Gilmore Girls really well for years and years, so we could easily see her starring in a new show. Just some food for thought!

Great news for all you ER fans, not only is George Clooney coming back for the final season of the long-running NBC hit, but fellow Oscar winner Susan Sarandon will be making a cameo as well.

According to E!'s Kristin Dos Santos, Susan was spotted at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank last week filming scenes for the finale.

So far the plot line has been kept under wraps, but sources on set did spill the beans about working with George.

"He was charming," one ER crewmember told E! "Everyone had a great time with George, and he told some great stories about the old days. He really enjoyed himself and was glad he did it."

What do you think of Susan joining the cast? Who else would you want to see make a cameo in the season finale? Maybe Britney can make a cameo on a gurney. Now that's what we call entertainment!
Dr. Doug Ross will be making a comeback on ER on the shows final episodes.

George Clooney had his start on ER before moving on to making movies. Clooney was last seen on ER in 2000.

The want to keep his appearance a secret for the time being, that’s why ER co-creator John Wells has ordered a closed set.

It’s not clear how many episodes Clooney will actually make cameo in, but chances are it will be during the finale.

We're sure avid ER fans will be excited the have Dr. Doug Ross come back, but are you?
Life on Mars @ 10pm
If you're looking for a police procedural with a twist, it's hard to beat this new series based on the well-regarded British drama of the same name. Here's the unique premise: Sam Tyler (Jason O'Mara) is a present-day NYPD detective who's hit by a car and knocked unconscious in tonight's series opener. When he wakes up, he's inexplicably in 1973. The great ensemble cast includes Harvey Keitel as Tyler's hard-nosed boss, Michael Imperioli as Det. Ray Carling and Gretchen Mol as policewoman Annie Norris, who's the smartest person in the room but underutilized in the sexist times.

Kath & Kim @ 8:30pm
The network's latest comedic import kicks off tonight with Molly Shannon and Selma Blair starring as the titular dysfunctional mother-daughter duo. Kim's marriage is in jeopardy after she realizes her husband of six weeks wants her to "do stuff." But the request isn't as scandalous as it may seem — he'd like her to microwave dinner and care about his day. Nonetheless, Kim decides to divorce him and hides out at her mom's house, putting a severe damper on Kath's blossoming romance with a lovable sandwich-shop owner.

Grey's Anatomy @ 9pm
Expect a flood of problems tonight as the chief attempts to implement new teaching policies, and George tries to retake his residency exam as flooding from a plumbing leak causes major problems at Seattle Grace. Meanwhile, Derek wants Meredith's roommates to move out of her house, to their surprise.

ER @ 10pm
We know Angela Bassett can play tough, and she's definitely that as Dr. Banfield, County General's new ER chief. It's up to the staff to adjust to the new boss since Banfield isn't going anywhere. This doesn't bode well for the antiestablishment Gates, who struggles tonight to save the life of a terrorist even while putting his life — and the lives of his interns — at risk. Meanwhile, Neela makes a stand of her own as she sets her mind to getting her mentor, Dr. Dubenko, back on the surgery staff.
The Office @ 9pm
Michael Scott's Scranton branch unlocks the office doors and opens up for a brand-new round of incisive mockumentary fun. In tonight's hourlong Season 5 opener, the Dunder Mifflin staffers participate in a weight-loss program, only to become overly consumed with shedding pounds. Here's the skinny on other goings-on: Michael, ever the privately lovelorn and lonely, works on building a friendship (and more?) with the new HR worker (Amy Ryan, returning from last season's finale). And then there's aspiring artist Pam, who attends art school in New York — leaving behind a pining Jim.

Grey's Anatomy @ 9pm
There has been some slippage as the fifth season opens, and the chief is hopping mad. Seattle Grace's national rankings have slipped. Adding insult to injury, local rival Mercy West is ranked higher. So let's see how the not-so-hot docs do on a cold, sleety night when a battered limo loaded with guest stars (Bernadette Peters, Mariette Hartley, Kathy Baker) arrive at the ER with bloody ball gowns and bloodier husbands. On the love front, Derek and Meredith are feeling their way (what else is new?), and Cristina might have a new fella, a macho military surgeon (Kevin McKidd) every bit as gruff as she is.

Ugly Betty @ 8pm
This show made headlines over the summer by announcing it was shifting its production to New York City, but where on earth was Betty going at the end of last season? Was it to Rome with Gio, to Tuscon with Henry or none of the above? We'll find out in tonight's third-season premiere, but one thing you can count on is that once Betty has satisfied her recent wanderlust, she's going to wake up in the city that never sleeps...and stay there.

ER @ 10pm
It's a bittersweet return for ER. Not only is the long-running show kicking off its 15th and final season, but fans may have to face the loss of a beloved series regular. Last we saw Abby (who was newly reunited with Luka), she was walking into the line of fire of an exploding ambulance that could have been carrying Pratt or Sam. Tonight, County's staff members deal with the aftermath of the blast, and we know they're at their best when treating one of their own. So grab your popcorn because this should be must-see TV.
Let's not forget that the superstar known as George Clooney came from humble beginnings. He got his start playing Dr. Doug Ross on ER. And although he said he won't be reprising his character on the show's finale this year, an old co-star of his thinks he may change his mind.

Anthony Edwards, who played the balding Dr. Greene on the series is coming back at some point during the final season, and he tells Access Hollywood, "I think he'd be a fool not to. But you know, who knows what'll happen."

Those are some pretty strong words! George has quite the movie career these days, so it might just be a matter of scheduling. But still, we'd love to see him back in scrubs one last time!
