Enrique Iglesias tends to shy away from the limelight. Perhaps that's why, after ALL these years, we still can't figure out if he's married to Anna Kournikova or not!
So we just flat-out asked him in an EXCLUSIVE interview while he was also promoting his awesome new album Euphoria, which is in stores now.
“I’m not married,” said Enrique. We thought that cleared things up, but then he added, “But if I was married I would like to keep it a secret.”
Hmmm, still makes us wonder if he's hiding something, but we'll take his word for it! Married or not, he and Anna appear to be doing just fine with whatever their technical status is. We probed him about kids, and Enrique responded with a big fat “NO." He added, "Not right now, I love kids…but no.”
“If I ever had kids I would like to keep it a secret,” he added.
Mr. Heartthrob is a huge fan of secrets! But he definitely seems to be happy. He told us, “I just feel like I’m enjoying life more than ever. I sound like a 60 year old.”
“I’m happy," he went on. "I am actually enjoying my career more than ever. My first album was in 1995 and years have flown by. At times I feel I was not able to enjoy my career as much as I should have. Now I feel that I am and I really appreciate that. I feel like I’m in a good place.”
This crooner may seem like the ultimate romantic, especially with some of the new tracks on the album like "Heartbreaker" and "Coming Home." But Iglesias confessed to us, “I’m not very romantic. Maybe that is why I write these songs, its like a comedian. You think he is always going to be funny but maybe off-stage he is the opposite. I’m not saying I’m completely opposite. But if you get home you are not going to see petals all over the floor or candles.”
No problemo there! Coming home to him every night would be gift enough if you ask us. The romantic side does show here and there, however. “I’ve written a song for a girl," he said. "That is not a lot but whatever.”
Enrique says that's something that comes naturally. “There is not really a formula, sometimes you go through writers' block--that absolutely drives you insane. When you get that one song it feels magical.”
When asked where he sees himself in ten years, Enrique said “I don’t even know where I see myself a month from now. Hopefully doing music.”
We hope so too!
