Rumors began swirling yesterday that Harry Potter actress Emma Watson was “in talks” to play the lead role of Anastasia Steele in the forthcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” film.
She’s got that innocent look and would make a pretty decent Ana, but the producers on the flick, Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, have shot down the rumors on their official Twitter pages.
Once news came out that Emma was to be cast, Twitter fans caused major backlash. It seems like NOBODY wants her as Ana, but the Twitter fans are really campaigning for Matt Bomer from “White Collar” to play Christian Grey.
However, the only priority from the creative team is to get a writer and a director in place BEFORE they start casting. So basically, not one single actor or actress has been approached yet. So if you hear that Ryan Gosling is going to play Christian Grey, it’s not true either. I know, sad news, right?
There were rumors that scribe Jim Piddock was going to write the movie, but that was false too. For now, nobody has been cast, there is no writer, and no director, and that’s straight from the source, and by source, I mean, the producer’s Twitter page.
