Emma Roberts. biography
Emma Rose Roberts was born on February 10, 1991, in Rhinebeck, New York to actor Eric Roberts and Kelly Cunningham.
After her parents divorced when she was a young child, Emma lived with her mother and subsequently grew apart from her dad. Despite her lack of relationship with Eric, Emma began growing closer to his sisters, actress Lisa Roberts Gillan and Hollywood starlet Julia Roberts.
With the help of Julia, Emma was able to jump start her acting career with an unaccredited role in the romantic comedy America’s Sweethearts (2001) at the mere age of 8.
Now 10-years-old, Emma managed to land her first non-minor role as Johnny Depp’s daughter in the biopic Blow (2001) while attending The Archer School for Girls in Los Angeles. She then switched over to home schooling to accommodate her hectic schedule on the set of the Nickelodeon TV series Unfabulous (2004-2007). Playing Addie Singer, Emma even laid her vocals down on the shows soundtrack Unfabulous and More (2005).
Also during this time, Emma’s resume continued to grow with several starring roles marketed toward the “tween” demographic, including the family comedies Aquamarine (2006), Nancy Drew (2007), Wild Child (2008) and Hotel for Dogs (2009). Eager to separate herself from the family comedy genre, the young actress took her first step toward adult films once she was cast alongside Alec Baldwin in the dark comedy Lymelife (2008).
Emma’s ability to emulate emotion with subtle facial expressions minus the over-the-top dramatics was further put on display throughout 2010, with memorable performances in the drama thriller Twelve alongside Chace Crawford and the dramedy It’s Kind of a Funny Story opposite Zach Galifianakis. She also made an appearance alongside her aunt Julie Roberts in the star-studded flick Valentine’s Day.
Following a short-stay at Sarah Lawrence College, Emma reunited with her acting roots in the horror flick Scream 4 (2011) before starring alongside Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg in the dramedy Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012).
Emma’s most recent projects include, the action drama Empire State (2013) with Liam Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson, the comedy Adult World (2013) opposite John Cusack, the hit comedy We’re the Millers (2013) alongside Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, the drama Palo Alto (2013) with James Franco and Val Kilmer, as well as an appearance in the TV series American Horror Story (2013).
