Eminem poked fun of a lot of celebrities in his video for the song “We Made You.” But he was very conflicted on whether or not he should make fun of
Jessica Simpson.
Eminem tells Detroit’s
Metro Times, “Tony Romo is one of my favorite quarterbacks. So I felt kinda conflicted doing the Jessica thing.”
He says his original plan was to simply have a Jessica lookalike sing the chorus in the video. He says, “We were gonna have a chick who looked like Jessica Simpson come out and sing. But then Jessica got fat. I mean, not really fat, but she certainly got fat for…well Jessica Simpson got fat for Jessica Simpson!”
Ouch. Eminem sure knows how to stir the pot. First Mariah and Nick Cannon have felt his wrath, and now poor Jess! Hasn’t she been through enough with this whole weight issue already?!
But Eminem fully defends the video, calling it a “little time capsule of what’s going on in pop culture.”
He goes on to say, "I've always wanted people to be able to look back at each video and go, 'Oh, remember what was going on at that moment!' Oh, that's when Jessica Simpson got fat.' And even if she gets thin again, that's fine. But for that moment in time, she was fat."
