Now, in true to The Bachelor form, by choosing past rejects to become the next season's star, 25-year-old Emily Maynard has been asked by ABC to become the next The Bachelorette.
"It’s basically a done deal,” a source tells the new issue of Life & Style, “She hasn’t signed the contract yet, but she’s fully on board.”
I'm still trying to figure out the appeal of this show. We all know no couples on this show ever last, and the fact that they end the show with an engagement ring is so silly. Hey, we've been on like 7 televised dates, wanna spend the rest of our lives together? Or at least the next three months together?
However, Maynard "on board" with the show is in stark contrast to what she tweeted last summer, "I don't want to be the Bachelorette," she wrote.
Well, now she needs a payday real bad, obviously because she doesn't need help dating. Since she split with Womack she's been linked to Carolina Panthers tight-end Jeremy Shockey and Most Eligible Dallas star Matt Nordgren. However, she vehemently denied dating Nordgren, which is what all celebs say when they don't want Guy #1 to find out they are dating someone else. Believe me, it's what Ryan Reynolds and Olivia Wilde have been doing for all of 2011.
"Emily is America's sweetheart," says the source, "Fans are going to be thrilled! Everyone loved her."
Womack and Maynard's relationship began while The Bachelor was airing during January 2011, but the couple called off their engagement this summer.
