Ellen DeGeneres will make her official debut as a judge on American Idol next week! But there’s one person who isn’t sure about how she’ll do—and that’s Idol vet Simon Cowell.
In a joint interview with Entertainment Weekly, Simon and Ellen talk about how they’ll play off each other on the show. Ellen tells the mag, "Simon really is, in my opinion, mean to people sometimes. So I think I'll be hard, but if he's rude, I'm going to let him know he's rude.
"And I may disagree with you," Cowell says. "If everything is 'After you,' 'No, after you,' that's uncomfortable."
Despite having different opinions, Ellen has found a good side in Simon, and responded to rumors he may be leaving the show after this season. “If Simon goes, I go!” says Ellen.
Simon responds, “Oh, Ellen!… That’s quite a tricky situation you’ve put me into! I think right now we have to concentrate on the next season and just get through that and worry about everything else afterwards.”
We’re certainly looking forward to the relationship between the two judges! Tune in to the first episode of Idol January 12th!
