Elizabeth Smart, the girl who was once famously and horribly kidnapped for 9 months when she was 14 has now signed a deal with ABC news to serve as an expert and paid contributor for missing persons and child abductions cases.
The now 23-year-old Smart will appear on “Good Morning America” and “Nightline.”
A spokeswoman for ABC says Smart will “help our viewers better understand missing person stories from someone with the perspective to know what a family experiences when a loved one goes missing.”
Smart reportedly wants this job so she can create awareness about cases involving missing children and bring to light the atrocities she was forced to live when she was 14. Smart was taken from her parents Utah home in 2002 at knife point.
Because Smart has no journalism experience, some are saying it’s a huge PR stunt, but ABC claims the deal “has been in the works for months.”
We can expect to see Smart on the air within the next few weeks.
