But the former Italian TV personality isn't shedding any tears. Canalis has rebounded with True Blood star Mehcad Brooks. The two were spotted hanging out a few months ago, and now, sources are confirming that the two are indeed an item.
"They're dating," a source told Us Weekly. "They started seeing each other after she left Dancing with the Stars."
She might not have gotten a mirror ball trophy, but at least she got a man out of it. Nice job, Elisabetta.
Canalis split with her semi-longtime boyfriend, George Clooney, this summer. The two were dating for two years. Recently, Canalis dished on her relationship with the fifty year-old actor, adding a little passive-aggressive jab in the mix:
"He was a very special person for me -- like a father."
Smooth. She might as well have said. "Yeah, I liked him. I like all old people."
"Between us there was more of a father-daughter relationship. I was unable to clarify this up 'til now," Canalis continued.
Canalis told Italian broadcaster Bruno Vespa, in his new book, This Love:
"It was a great love and it was like living a fairy tale. George is a real gentleman even with his private life. I was very well respected as a partner."
Canalis also contends that she and Clooney never discussed marriage or kids. Probably because anytime she tried talking about it, he put his fingers in his ears, yelled LALALALALA! and ran away.
But don't feel too bad for Elisabettta. Canalis recently took her new man Mehcad overseas, and it looks like it's getting serious. She brought the actor to Milan, where they were photographed kissing and cuddling over dinner. They were also spotted together at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin last week.
Clooney has since moved on as well. He recently made his red carpet debut with Stacy Keibler, an ex professional wrestler. And how does she compare to Elisabetta? She doesn't, according to a friend of Clooney's.
"Stacy is not Elisabetta," the source told E! "and that has a lot to do with why she's around and Elisabetta isn't. [Elisabetta] was very ambitious."
Ironically, though, Stacy Keibler just upped her appearance fee. In October, Keibler increased her "personal appearance" fee from $10,000 to $25,000. I guess it's gonna take a higher price for her to give up precious Clooney time.
