Twitter is a flutter with rumors that comedian Eddie Murphy has died in a tragic snowboard accident. Is this just crazy enough to be true?
Actually no… After speaking with his rep, Hollyscoop can confirm that Mr. Murphy is alive and kicking.
When asked about the rumors the rep told us that the claims are simply “not true.”
“He is in LA at his home,” the rep told Hollyscoop. “He doesn’t ski or snowboard. In the future, if this story appears I can assure you that it is false.”
The original story can be sourced back to celeb story fabrication site mediafetcher.com. In the story, Murphy met his fake fate traveling at a high speed on snowboard when he struck a tree.
“The actor & novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends,” the story reads.
According to the bogus source, Murphy was taken to the hospital. But don’t worry… No drugs or alcohol appear in his system.
The only thing missing from the impossible claim is a magical phoenix that swooped in to cry healing tears onto Murphy’s injuries in an effort to save him.
According to the site, Eddie Murphy has died several times in the past…
Mediafetcher is responsible for counterfeit death stories for a number of celebrities including Bon Jovi, Charlie Sheen, Adam Sandler, Will Smith, and Tiger Woods.
Of course, the most unfortunate thing about the fake story is the fact that Murphy can never take up skiing now, even if he wanted to. Talk about a bad omen…
