Dwayne Johnson. biography
The grandson of professional wrestler Peter "High Chief" Fanen, Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California and grew up idolizing his father's dominance in the wrestling under the moniker Rocky Johnson.
Despite his interest in wrestling, Dwayne decided to play football for the University of Miami and was able to become a sought-after NFL prospect before suffering a back injury that put his professional aspirations on hold. In result, Dwayne returned to his wrestling roots and made his WWF debut against Brooklyn Brawler in 1996.
After being signed to the WWF under the stage name Flex Kavana, Dwayne joined The Nation of Domination and assumed the moniker The Rock. He went on to earn the nickname "The People's Champ" and secure six WWF Heavyweight titles as well as the WWF Tag Team Championship five times before taking an indefinite break from wrestling to focus on his acting career in 2000.
Although a newcomer to the big-screen, Dwayne was able to land a substantial role as Mathayus in the adventure flick The Mummy Returns (2001), which he later reprised in The Scorpion King (2002). He then landed his first leading role alongside Christopher Walken and Seann William Scott in The Rundown (2003) followed by Walking Tall (2004) with Johnny Knoxville.
In 2005, the famous wrestler further expanded his acting resume as a villain in Doom and with a memorable comedic performance as the gay bodyguard of John Travolta's character in Be Cool. A year later, Dwayne reunited with his athletic roots as a football coach for juvenile delinquents in Gridiron Gang (2006) and later as a NFL quarterback who finds out he has a baby girl in The Game Plan (2007).
Dwayne then started shedding his intimidating wrestling persona and gaining popularity among families when he showed off his sympathetic side in Get Smart (2008), Race to Witch Mountain (2009) and Tooth Fairy (2010). That same year, Dwayne continued attracting the masses to movie theaters nationwide with an amusing performance in The Others Guys (2010) alongside Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg prior to reuniting with his tough-guy image in both Faster (2010) and Fast Five (2010).
Dwayne's most recent film projects include, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012), Snitch (2013), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), Pain & Gain (2013) alongside Mark Wahlberg, Fast & Furious 6 (2013), the action thriller Ciudad (unknown release date), the action flick Lore (unknown), the action drama Arabian Nights (2014), Fast & Furious 7 (2014) and Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon (unknown).
The Rock Girlfriend & Dating History Timeline
May 1997 - June 2007
Dwayne married Dany Garcia on May 3, 1997, a day after he turned 25-years-old. Despite parting ways in 2007, the two emphasized their plans to remain best friends and in each other's lives as they continue to raise their daughter Simone Alexandra (b. 14 August 2001).
Is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Gay?
While some can't imagine a strong, physically intimating pro-wrestler enjoying the sensual touch of another man, others can't wrap their minds around a Hollywood star like Dwayne Johnson only having ONE serious relationship and no signs of random hook-ups.
Yes, Dwayne was married to Dany Garcia for 10-years with whom he has a daughter, named Simone Alexandra. But the initial gay inquiry emerged when the couple parted ways in 2007, particularly the moment when the two described their split as amicable and that they would stay best friends for the remainder of their lives. The fact they're still best friends is off-putting for most seeing that couples resort to divorce when they can no longer stand each other's faces.
To make it even more suspicious, Garcia continued serving as Dwayne's manager after the divorce was finalized, controlling all of his finances and business ventures. In most divorce proceedings, both sides are trying to get their hands on all the money and power, but in this relationship, Dwayne had no problem handing over his life savings. No one would ever consider doing this unless their ex-partner was their best friend who also happened to be their beard.
For those who've been living underneath a straight rock, a beard is a straight woman who dates or marries a gay man to help hide his homosexuality from the public eye. In other words, a beard is a closeted gay man's best friend and can likely be found on the arms of Hollywood's biggest hunks, including Will Smith, Hugh Jackman and possibly the beloved Dwayne Johnson.
Oddly enough, Dwayne publically voiced his opinion that there's no reason for homosexuality to be shunned in Hollywood after portraying a gay bodyguard in Be Cool (2005). He went on to tell OUT magazine, "I know a lot of gay actors in Hollywood who don't want to come out, and whatever the reasons are I respect that. But I think if people love you now, and if you came out, they would love you more, and if they didn't, then they weren't real people to begin with."
Maybe one day he will take his own advice (if the rumor is actually true).
