There must be something in the water in Hollywood, because everyone is saving lives! First Patrick Dempsey pulls a teen out of a car wreckage, Mila Kunis saved a man having a seizure, and now Dustin Hoffman saved the life of a jogger who suffered a heart attack!
Sam Dempster was going for an early morning jog in London’s Hyde Park ten days ago when his heart stopped and he fell to the ground. Hoffman happened to be walking nearby and immediately called the paramedics.
Hoffman then turned the man onto his back “which was really useful and would have assisted in making sure his airways were open,” says a paramedic.
Dustin then stayed while the paramedics revived the man back to health. The paramedics said Dustin appeared very impressed by the work of the paramedics and repeatedly told them, “Great job, guys.”
When Sam came to, he told UK Tabloid The Sun, “I have no memory of what happened. The paramedics told me I had been saved by Dustin Hoffman. It’s unbelievable.”
Imagine that conversation… Sir, you’ve just suffered a heart attack. Also, have you seen “Rain Man?” Yeah well, that guy saved your life. No, not Tom Cruise. Yeah, the older one.
Dustin told paramedics that Sam had been foaming at the mouth and staggering before he fell to the ground. Dustin didn’t leave until Sam had been taken to the hospital.
“Dustin was fascinated,” says a paramedic, “He seemed impressed we’d got this guy back so quickly. When we were carrying the patient into the ambulance he walked up and said ‘Great job, guys.’ He really appreciated what had happened.”
Calls to Hoffman's rep have not been returned.
