Shemar Moore, a former host of Soul Train, is now revealing that Cornelius, his mentor, might have been suffering from dementia.
“I don’t know what his health was like,” Moore told ET Online. “I had heard rumors that it was early [onset] dementia, Alzheimer’s, things like that…I’d heard that he was sick.”

The legendary creator of Soul Train, Don Cornelius, has passed away. Cornelius was found dead Wednesday morning in his home in Sherman Oaks, California.
Tragically, although Cornelius was 75, it appears that his death was a suicide.
He "died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," L.A. Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter tells PEOPLE. "Earlier this morning, paramedics had responded to his L.A. residence at the 12,600 block of Mulholland Drive.
