There's still so many unanswered questions surrounding
DJ AM's sudden
death.
What we do know is that there was prescription drugs found near his lifeless body in his Manhattan apartment where he was found dead earlier this afternoon.
According to sources at TMZ, he was reportedly "devastated" over his recent breakup with girlfriend Hayley Wood. Wood apparently called off the relationship last week.
DJ AM had been sober for nine years but he was reportedly having a hard time dealing with post traumatic stress syndrome following his recent plane crash, and the breakup just added to his stress.
Police found a crack pipe and prescription pills in his apartment, said a law enforcement official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.
AM had talked openly about his past addictions to crack cocaine, Ecstasy and other drugs. He even once tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head, but the gun jammed.
His rep Jenni Weinman says details surrounding his sudden death are still unclear but asked for privacy from the family. "Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time,” said Weinman.
AM was supposed to be in Las Vegas tonight to DJ at Rain Nightclub inside the Palms Hotel and Casino, where he's been a resident DJ for the past few months.
