A memorial has been set for this Thursday to honor the life of Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein. According to MTV, the memorial will take place at the Palladium in Hollywood, a venue Adam had DJ’d many times during his life. In fact, the Palladium was the first place he played following the plane crash he survived last year.

The event is being called "a gathering to celebrate the life of our friend Adam Goldstein." The memorial will pay tribute to AM's struggle with addiction, with a format that will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting.

Meanwhile, AM will be buried at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon. It will be a private service at the mortuary then the family will move outside for the burial.

At the time of his death, AM was wrapping work on the MTV series "Gone Too Far," in which he was working to help other addicts overcome their addictions. MTV hasn’t yet announced plans for the show.

The invitation states: "Adam's friends both from his life in recovery, as well as those from other areas of his life are welcome. We ask only that everyone adhere to the tradition of anonymity and let what they hear there, and who they see there, stay there."

AM's family has asked fans to not send flowers in his honor, but to donate to two of his favorite charities. A note posted on the DJ's MySpace page explains, "We appreciate the kind words and support for Adam over the past few days.

"Due to your inquiries, in lieu of flowers, AM's family would like to suggest making donations to the following charitable organizations: National MS Society, Southern California Chapter, or Friendly House. The latter is a drug-treatment center for women, and a representative told TMZ that AM was a supporter of Friendly House and would show up at its luncheons.
