The Broadway musical-turned-film, Rock of Ages has been getting a ton of buzz lately, with A-Listers like Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin cast.

We could soon be welcoming the newest addition to the cast, Diego Boneta. If officially cast, Boneta will be playing the role of an aspiring musician, something he’ll definitely be able to pull off, because this kid’s got some serious vocal chops!

With his talent, Boneta is surely going to be headed for the top, so here are a few things you should know about him:

  • Diego’s kind of a big deal in South America. Diego has an album released in Chile, Mexico and Brazil. He was born in Mexico City on November 29, 1990(Sagittarius) and first appeared on the Mexican soap opera “Rebelde” in 2005.

  • You might have seen Deigo on TV. Diego was in Mean Girls 2, the follow-up to the Lindsay Lohan hit of 2004. He’s also been on CW shows like 90210 and Pretty Little Liars. He’s definitely got the “pretty” part down.

  • He’s got an American Idol connection. Then again, who doesn’t? But Diego recently worked with Kara DioGuardi, ex Idol judge, on a song from his 2008 album.
So there you have it. Although Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman Tweeted, “@diegoboneta hasn't been cast. He's auditioning,” New York Magazine is reporting Boneta has the role. We’ll see what happens, but either way, Boneta is definitely a Hollywood up-and-comer!
