Demi Moore Twitters and Saves a Life

Not only is Twitter fun, but it can help save lives! Demi Moore has become notorious lately for her nonstop Twittering, like any celebs who have become enthralled with the online networking site.

Yesterday though, Demi got more than she bargained for when signing on. A woman in Demi’s network sent her what’s called a “tweet” saying, “getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my whole arm so it doesn’t waste time.”

Demi then re-tweeted to the woman, “Hope you are joking,” and “Everyone I was very torn about responding or re-tweeting that woman’s post but felt uncomfortable just letting it go.”

Other people on Twitter then got involved and even started getting in touch with police. On user wrote: “the twitterverse is on the case just called silicon valley pd to report this woman many others had called. fingers crossed.”

A rep for the San Jose Police Department told Access Hollywood said they “received several phone calls” about the woman starting at 3 AM on Friday. The calls were coming in from “all over the place, from far away places.”

Police said they “did locate the subject” and she had not hurt herself. The unidentified woman was “taken for evaluation.”

Demi’s latest post read: “Thanks everyone for reaching out to the San Jose PD i am told they are aware and no need to call anymore. I do not know this woman. I am inspired by the enormous response of humanity here and thank you… It is my understanding that the situation was not a joke and that through the collective efforts here action was taken to provide help!”

What a crazy story! It’s unbelievable that through an online site people were able to reach out and band together to help save this person who may have been trying to end things. But like a lot of suicidal people, this woman was trying to reach out one last time. And it didn’t go unnoticed!
