Does this diaper make my butt look big?
“The X Factor” judge Demi Lovato has recently been an open book about her personal life, and that openness might be coming back to bite her. The 20-year-old pop icon has admitted that her body image started when she was still wearing Pampers.
The confession takes place during a Friday interview with Katie Couric’s new talk show “Katie.”
"I remember being 3 years old in a diaper and rubbing my hand over my stomach," Lovato says. "I remember thinking in my head, 'I wonder if one day this will ever be flat?'"
In text form, this doesn’t seem to completely paint her in a hollow-headed light, but keep in mind that she says it with a straight face.
That, and the fact that most three year olds are more focused on getting the words to “Itsy Bitsy Spider” down, rather than toning their abs.
Despite when it actually started, there’s no denying that Demi’s weight issues have proven to be a major obstacle in her life.
Katie goes on, delving into when Demi was a budding teen star getting teased in school.
"It played more of a toll on me than if I was physically abused in school," she says. "I've always said I wished that they had just hit me in the face and gotten it over with, because what they said to me sticks to me to this day."
As Hollyscoop previously reported, Demi is using the pain that she overcame in her life as inspiration in Secret’s Mean Stinks campaign, urging students to “gang up on bullying.”
“I had a really tough time when I was in middle school," she said. "People would write 'hate petitions' [about me] and send them around to be signed.”
