It’s official, a source close to Demi Lovato told People: The singer is leaving “The X Factor.”
We’ve become accustomed to these types of exit announcements, which are usually followed by on-set drama, but there’s nothing negative here to report!
“She had a great run and a good time,” the source commented to the mag, but the show’s grueling production schedule leaves little flexibility for Demi to honor her singing career.
Demi had a solid two-season gig with Simon Cowell’s talent competition. Her next move is her first arena tour, which kicks off next year in Vancouver on February 9th. “She plans to spend next year completely focused on her music,” added People's source.
However, our source exclusively told us Demi's reason for leaving extends beyond professional aspirations.
"Demi has had a great time on 'X Factor,' but it is time. She has had a really busy year and is doing so well," a source close to Demi told Hollyscoop.
"Everyone is so proud of her, but she really needs to take time off to focus on her sobriety and relationship," the source added. "Wilmer [Valderrama] is super supportive of her and she wants to have time to spend with him and with her family and focus on her program because she has to put her sobriety first, before anything."
After Britney Spears made her exit, things just haven't been the same on the show, the source explained and "Demi just felt overwhelmed lately."
