The People’s Choice Awards is an awards show where the awards are decided on by the people. Was that hard for you to follow? Apparently it was for Demi Lovato, who took home the trophies for “Favorite Female Artist” and “Favorite Music Fan Following,” but wasn’t there to receive them in person.
Last night, just before bed, Demi logged onto Twitter and discovered a sea of vitriol slung her way over her absence at the telecast. She was confused.
“Damn…Just hopped online to check twitter and some ‘fans’ are being really :(…I’m not at the PCA’s [People’s Choice Awards] because as I have stated before, I’m taking as much time off this month as possible…I haven’t taken a substantial amount of time off in a long time and now I am. Thank you for those who voted and understand why I am away.”
Being a celebrity isn’t easy (which is why every celebrity has to go to Harvard to get their degrees in Fame, believe it or not), but that doesn’t mean comments calling Demi “fat” or “lazy” or “ungrateful” are warranted, just because she wasn’t there to appease the fanbase that voted for her.
“There are ‘fans’ who say they support me, then they hate on me, my personal life and my loved ones…” she went on to lament. “And then there are my LOVATICS!!! THEY are the BEST fans an artist could ever ask for…I LOVE YOU!!!”
